Camano Island Health System (CIHS) is a new, independent, local primary care (plus) practice here on Camano Island looking for ways to integrate into the community as we cater care to our patients’ individual needs. CIHS is unique in its mission based in a personalized, patient-centered, integrative, evidence-based practice model and a commitment to the highest standards in quality wellness care and disease management. Even as we are just getting started, our laboratory is well equipped for in-house testing with state-of-the-art equipment such as the Abbott ID NOW analyzer (same as used by Dr. Fouche and the White House) for detecting COVID-19 within minutes. We made sure to have motorized exam tables that lower to within inches off the floor for those patients who might have trouble getting up on a common exam table.
CIHS is born of and for the people of Camano Island and strives to be an integral part of that vibrant community. Since we are not affiliated with any large system, we can adapt the community’s needs such as providing home visits for home-bound patients.
CIHS promises to bring our patients tailored, comprehensive, 360-degree (mind, body, spirit, emotion) care and that includes our local schools, churches, fire department, the senior center, civic and social networks, and the many services available on the island. CIHS looks for opportunities for strategic partnerships and ways of working together to help our island achieve and maintain optimal health and wellness.
Due to the needs in our island members, CIHS has decided to open our doors now and ramp up services as we go. Currently, we provide scheduled Family Practice (a.k.a. Primary Care), walk-in Acute Care services, Personal Training and macro-Nutrition Counselling. We are in the process of adding specialists here at our clinic such as Podiatry, Psychiatry, Adolescent Medicine, Dermatology, Massage and others, as well as programs for Diabetes, Garden Families, Talking Circles and more. We also have a Chiropractor and insurance broker co-located with us at the centrally-located Port Susan Professional Building on Camano Island.
CIHS officially opened and started seeing patients October 31st, 2020. To start, we are accepting self-pay patients at affordable rates as well as Aetna and Premera health insurances, and we expect to bring on many more insurances used by our island community members within the near future. CIHS also offers an enrollment option for those who would like continuous care including diagnostics and treatments at one monthly price. In answer to some local small business owners, Camano Island Health System developed company enrollment options for their employees which has additional benefits like no-cost work-related injury triage services, and more.
