The Stanwood Area Historical Society (SAHS) seeks to discover, preserve, and display any materials which help to establish, illustrate, and interpret the economic, social, and cultural heritage of the greater Stanwood area, including if financially possible and appropriate, historic sites and properties.
SAHS was incorporated in 1972 and three years later purchased the D. O. Pearson House. In 2001 we added the former I. O. O. F. Hall (Floyd Hall) and Tolin House. We have grown and have historically offered an annual schedule of activities and projects at our facilities, including the Floyd Norgaard Cultural Center, which serves as a program space, exhibitions area (3rd floor) and rental venue for weddings, memorials and other patron events.
Our Eldridge Research Center was opened in 1991 behind the Pearson House, and serves as the collections repository for our museum. We offer researcher visits by appointment, as well as an active genealogy program each week (Wednesdays 1:00-4:00pm), image order services for patrons, and docent-led tours of both the Floyd exhibitions and the D.O. Pearson House (by appointment and on Saturdays, 10:00am-1:00pm). Admission is free to the public.
