Sweet Sweet Summertime!
Hello Chamber Members,

Ahhh sunshine! I hope you are finding ways to soak it up and enjoy this beautiful summer weather (finally!) – this weekend is a BUSY weekend in Stanwood-Camano with the Summer Solstice Art, Beer & Wine Festival
starting today and running through Sunday at Camano Commons from 10-5, the Camano Crab Dash on Saturday morning, and the Twin City Idlers Car Show on Sunday in Stanwood from 9-3.  We are thrilled to have sponsored ALL three events that are happening this weekend – and our Board of Directors voted yesterday to increase our sponsorship budget from $6,300 to $10,000.  A large portion of your membership dues go directly back out to the community in terms of sponsorships and high school scholarships – so thank you!  If you are interested in submitting a sponsorship form you can find it linked here.

Thank you to everyone who attended our mixer at Tapped Camano last week – it was a great turn out.  Our July Meeting will be on Thursday July 21st from 4-7 and we have rented out the building by the boat launch at Camano Island State Park – bring your family, friends, beach toys and a picnic.  Please RSVP HERE.

And finally, it may just be JUNE but we are so excited about the 25th (almost) Annual Chili & Chowder Cook-Off we have registration open already for both sponsorship opportunities and cook-off participants.  The link to sign up is HERE .

Please let us know how the Camano Chamber can help you!

Best Regards,

Jessica McCready

Snohomish County PUD

Snohomish County PUD crews will be busy this summer making electric system improvements and completing preventative maintenance projects. This summer’s most significant project will be the construction of a second transmission line to Camano Island. At more than five miles of line, this will be the largest transmission project the PUD has done in-house and will cost the utility $8 million. Construction of the redundant transmission line is scheduled to begin in north Stanwood in July and will continue west to Camano Island, terminating at the PUD’s Camano Substation. There will be minimal traffic impacts along Highway 532, but the PUD will have traffic control in place when necessary. Once the transmission project is complete, the PUD will expand and update its Camano Substation to accommodate growth on Camano Island and replace aging equipment in addition to performing maintenance work on the original transmission line. Starting this summer, the PUD will also be performing significant tree trimming on all four circuits out of its South Camano Substation to help with reliability during the storm season.
