Happy June!

Hello Chamber Members,

Happy June (or should we say June-uary?) Think happy thoughts – even if it is raining sideways – the markets will soon be stocked with fresh berries, the sun WILL shine and it will feel like summer soon.  I pinky promise.

While Camano will not have a Farmers Market this summer there are still plenty of options for you to find fresh locally grown produce and goodies – Kristoferson Farm, Ananda Farms, Black Dogs Harvest, and Island Harvest Farm are all located right here on the island. And of course our friends at the Stanwood Farmers Market will host wonderful vendors every Friday afternoon by the train tracks in Stanwood.

Our June Mixer will be NEXT THURSDAY June 16th at Tapped Camano at 5PM and we will joined by the Stanwood Chamber for this great networking opportunity.  Door prizes, mingling and of course great food.  RSVP HERE.

Did you have a chance to listen to The Welcome to Camano Island Podcast which launched on June 1st? We are pretty excited about it – let us know what you think!

And finally, it may just be JUNE but we are so excited about the 25th (almost) Annual Chili & Chowder Cook-Off we have registration open already.  The link to sign up is HERE – priority is given to past participants first but with only 24 spots you should sign up early!

Please let us know how the Camano Chamber can help you!

Best Regards,

Jessica McCready
Executive Director, Camano Island Chamber of Commerce

Center for Wooden Boats at Cama

Unfortunately, the Boathouse, seawall, and boat ramp at the Center for Wooden Boats at Cama Beach sustained structural damage during multiple winter storms.  This has significantly impacted our ability to safely operate the Cama Beach Livery this season. Washington State Parks is working on fixing the structures, but it is looking unlikely that they will be made in time for the summer. That is why the Cama Beach Livery Will be CLOSED for the foreseeable future.
While this is a huge disappointment, we’re going to make the most of the situation. The park is still open with cabin rentals available. Toy boatbuilding is happening every Saturday thanks to our dedicated Cama Beach Volunteer core. The break in livery will allow us to shift our attention to much needed building and vessel maintenance. We also have a new Cama Manager (who we’ll introduce in the next newsletter) starting soon! Cama Beach is a beautiful oasis and still worth the trip this summer.
Thank you for your patience! Keep an eye on our website for the latest news on the Cama Livery.

The Beach House at Tyee

Looking for somewhere to have your summer guests stay on Camano this year – or maybe just a Staycation? Make the The Beach House at Tyee your waterfront vacation home away from home!

Located on a sand and gravel beach (no mudflats here!), the Beach House at Tyee has its own private boat ramp perfect for kayaks or small boats, and its own mooring buoy, which can handle much larger vessels. Crabbing and shrimping (in season) are good right out front, and salmon fishing (in season) is just a few minutes away by boat. There is parking for your car and boat trailer.

The Beach House is fully furnished, with luxury linens, a fully-equipped kitchen, and an outdoor gas grill. The Beach House can sleep up to 4 people. Curl up with a good book, walk the beach gathering shells and agates. Watch for whales, seals, otters, seabirds and bald eagles.
