Spring has Sprung!
Hello Chamber Members,
Happy Spring! With the arrival of flowers blooming and the on-again off-again rain we know for sure that Spring has arrived in the Stanwood-Camano area. Which means we all made it through another winter – always an accomplishment!
We had another great Membership Meeting last week with over 30 people in attendance on Zoom. Thank you to Fred F. Poyner IV, Executive Director of the Stanwood Area Historical Society and George Colby and the FBLA students at Stanwood High School. It was informative and inspiring. A recording of the meeting as well as a PDF of their presentations can be found on our website under NEWS & UPDATES.
Our April Membership Meeting will be on Thursday 4/21 at 11:30 either in person or on Zoom and the topic is Local Tourism Plans for 2022. Local Tourism is a big part of our economy in the local area – but how do we approach tourism responsibly? Speaker Sherrye Wyatt with Whidbey-Camano Island Tourism will unveil the Transformative Destination Travel framework for 2022. This work is exciting and by definition “transformative” for our island life. Sarah Cho withDiscover Stanwood Camano will also provide an update on tourism initiatives led by the City of Stanwood.
For the April Meeting we have the ability to meet IN PERSON at the Camano Center OR via Zoom using our new OWL (see more info. below.) Please complete the registration form and indicate if you plan on attending in person, whether you would like lunch or you will attend on Zoom. Deadline to RSVP for lunch is Friday 4/15/22.
We are also working on our Summer 2022 meeting schedule and some new member benefits – stay tuned for that information.
We look forward to seeing you and as always please let us know if there is any way The Camano Island Chamber can help you.
Best Regards,
Jessica McCready

Matzke Fine Art & Design
|
|
Matzke Fine Art & Design presents A Creative Paradigm – Women’s Painters of Washington thru April 10th. Open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 11:00 to 5:00.
Women Painters of Washington was founded in 1930 by six artists who met at a portrait class held by the organization that eventually became known as “The Seattle Art Museum”. Their purpose was to empower professional women artists to create, exhibit and market their work while fostering art appreciation within their communities and beyond. Since then, more than 1,000 women artists have been members of WPW. Some of our early members were WPA (Works Progress Administration) mural artists and others exhibited nationally and internationally. We have a very rich history.
