Call For Art – Glass Quest 2024 Poster

Project Background:

The Camano Island Chamber of Commerce organizes the very popular Northwest Glass Quest event every February.  This 10 day event draws visitors from far and wide to search for “clueballs” (3 inch plastic balls) in participating businesses and our local parks – those who are lucky enough to find a clueball are given a beautiful hand blown glass ball created by Mark and Marcus Ellinger of Glass Quest Studio.  The event has grown in popularity every year and in 2023 we had over 420 glass balls to award to lucky “questers”.  The 2024 event will be held from February 16th-25th however due to the large scale and scope of the event we begin our marketing and registration in September.

The event highlights the local artists who create the beautiful glass balls and we would like to expand our promotion of local art by having the annual poster designed by a local artist.  Art submissions for consideration can be in draft/outline form. If chosen, final art will be due in September. There is a $500 stipend for the artwork chosen by the panel for the 2024 poster.

The Camano Island Chamber has partnered with the Stanwood Camano Arts Advocacy Commission to implement this Call for Art.

Project Vision:

The goal of this project is to showcase locally created art for the annual Northwest Glass Quest poster.  The desired outcome is that every year we would have a different poster, created by a local artist to promote this annual event.  The posters themselves would become special keepsake items and add to the creativity of the event.

Submissions will be reviewed and voted on by a panel of individuals representing the Camano Island Chamber, the City of Stanwood, SCAAC, local art organizations, and business representatives.

Content Information:

We understand the time and commitment it takes to create a finalized piece of artwork. Submitted artwork for review can be in DRAFT or OUTLINE form.  Please provide as much detail as possible in terms of your vision of the artwork.

Artwork should capture the essence of The Northwest Glass Quest event – an event that highlights the natural beauty of our area and our community.  “Come for the Adventure, Enjoy the Journey” was the tagline used in 2023, along with “Embrace the Thrill of the Hunt.” In addition, this event is designed to support our business community during the typically slow month of February.  More information about the event can be found here:

www.northwestglassquest.com – reading the FAQ section can also be very helpful for a better understanding of the event as a whole.

There is a $500 stipend for the artwork chosen by the panel for the 2024 poster.  Depending upon submissions we may also award a 2nd and 3rd place prize.

Submissions are accepted June 1, 2023 – July 31, 2023
